Homework

Our thoughts on homework and parental engagement:

  • We believe parents are the first and best teachers of their children.
  • We want parents to feel informed about what their child is learning in school – homework is one way of achieving that.
  • We aim to give parents the tools they need to support and enrich learning at home.
  • We know that children do better in school if their parents are engaged.
  • We believe homework is really important: it consolidates learning.

This table helps to explain our weekly routines of homework.  We appreciate that there is never a 'one-size fits all' solution: some families prefer to do a minimal amount of homework and maximise their precious time together, others relish the opportunity to engage in home learning and would prefer as much of this as possible.  Our approach aims to make a reasonable effort to satisfy all families.
