Admissions

If you're considering admission to St Joseph's, you might like to begin by reading our Headteacher's Letter to prospective parents: Head's Letter.pdf
Please be aware that admission to St Joseph's Nursery is separate to the main school. You will need to follow the procedure set out on the Nursery Admissions page: Nursery Admissions
When you're ready to apply for school admission, there are two simple stages to the process.
Firstly, you will need to complete Surrey's online admissions form.
- For parents seeking admission for Reception classes in September 2026 please click here.
- For those seeking in-year admission as they move from one school to another, please click here.
Secondly, St Joseph's has a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) which we ask parents to complete.
- This form is important for all applicants because it allows us to rank applicants fairly according to our published criteria as a Catholic School. You can find our Admissions Policies and SIFs below.
- For parents seeking admission to Reception classes in September 2026, please use the 2026-27 SIF.
- For in-year applicants, please use the 2025-26 SIF.
- Please return your completed SIF directly to the school.
Finally, you will receive an outcome to your application.
- Applicants for Reception classes in September 2026 will receive an outcome to their application on the National Offer Day - 16th April 2026
- Applicants for in-year admission should anticipate an outcome no later than 15 school days after Surrey Admissions have processed your application.
If you have any questions at all about admissions, please don't hesitate to email us - we're always very happy to help: info@stjosephsguildford.com

- Removing reference to parishes
- Removing the need for the SIF to be countersigned
The six-week (minimum) consultation will begin on Friday 5th December 2025 with the closing date for submitting comments being Friday 16th January 2026.
The proposed arrangements (admissions policy and supplementary information form (SIF) can be viewed below.

Note: The ‘relevant area’ is the area for a school (determined by its LA and then reviewed every two years) within which the admission authority for that school must consult all other prescribed schools on its admission arrangements.

Appeals
If your child is not offered a place at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, you have the right to appeal against that decision to an Independent Appeal Panel (set up in accordance with sections 88 and 94 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998). Appeals must be made in writing and must set out the reasons on which the appeal is made. Appeals should be made using Surrey’s online appeals form. The appeals system is operated independently from the school. Parents/carers have the right to make oral representations to the Appeal Panel.
Appellants will be sent notification of their appeal hearing at least 10 clear school days in advance of the hearing. Appellants will be sent a copy of the school's case 7 clear working days in advance of the hearing.
Appellants must ensure that any further evidence not included with their initial appeal, is received by 5pm on the day notified in the letter with details of the hearing. Any additional evidence or information received after this date might not be considered at the appeal hearing.
For Reception 2026, appeals should be lodged no later than 20 school days after the National Offer Day for primary schools (16 April 2026). Completed paperwork must be received by the school no later than 20 May 2026, and will be heard within within 40 school days of the appeal deadline or 30 school days of being lodged, whichever is the later date.
Late application appeals will be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.
In-year applications will be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.
