Pupil Leadership

Every year we host a number of pupil leadership groups to promote the development of school priorities and activities in direct response to the children's feedback and experience.  We welcome all children in the school to contribute to these groups, whether as a leading representative or by lending their voice to the ongoing survey and pupil engagement activities.

School Parliament

The School Parliament has a cabinet team formed of the elected House Captains.  They engage in ongoing "surgery sessions" where they explore common themes and trends in pupil surveys, going out to different areas of the school to investigate matters, hear from firsthand accounts and provide recommendations to the school's leadership about how we can improve life for every child in the school.

Spiritual Council

Each year different children are invited to represent the spiritual interests of their class by standing as a Spiritual Councillor.  This group works alongside the school's Chaplaincy Team to monitor and respond to the school's Catholic Life through a variety of works including the evaluation of worship, monitoring of classroom prayer tables, discernment of charitable causes and events, and the development of prayer spaces across the school site.

Wellbeing Ambassadors

Our Wellbeing Ambassadors promote the health and wellbeing of our whole school family, working in collaboration with our Pastoral Team.  Children have the opportunity to research and champion particular causes that they have seen are influencing and affecting the lives of children in our school.  Recent projects have involved a drive to improve the community's sleep patterns, a push on healthy eating and initiatives to make forming friendship more achievable.

Sports Captains

Our Sports Captains are elected from our Year 6 cohort. It is a particularly special role that involves the organising of sports equipment across break and lunchtimes, running of sporting activities throughout the school day and facilitating the school's major sporting events: Sports Days, District Sports and Indoor Athletics.

Play Leaders

All children at St Joseph's have the opportunity to take on the role of Play Leader before moving onto Year 7.  This is an important role that involves modelling and supporting the school staff in leading healthy, appropriate play across school break times.  We know that children love their free time in the school day but we also know they need to see and experience organised play in order to understand how to successfully replicate this in their own games.

Librarians

Our Librarians take care of all our reading needs.  From smartening up and organising our much loved library spaces, to advising budding readers on their next literary page-turner. The Librarians also support the class teachers to develop their year group and classroom bookshelves, ensuring that there is always something attractive and appealing to enthuse every child about reading at St Joseph's.
